history of st. joseph carmona (SJC)
St. Joseph - Carmona (SJC)
Prayer Group was established as an affiliate of the Hearts of Jesus and
Mary Prayer Community (HJMPC) in 2009 with eleven (11 ) couples coming
from San Vicente Ferrer Prayer Group.
The first prayer meeting was held in a small chapel in Brgy.
Mabuhay, Carmona, Cavite.
After two (2) years, the SJC Core Group decided to request HJMPC to
recognize SJC as a regular prayer group.
During the deliberation with the then Board of Servant Leaders,
the Core Group was informed that the request was being denied because
SJCPG had not complied with the required number of covenanted members to
become a regular HJMPC prayer group.
With utmost humility, the Core Group respectfully accepted the
decision of the Board, stating that they were willing to obey the will
of God and to wait for the right time.
While waiting, the group continued to serve and to
guide the new members in their spiritual journey.
Finally, after the completion of the Spiritual Formation for
Covenanted Members Seminar by some of the new members, thereby meeting
the required number of covenanted members, the group applied again to
become a regular member of the Community, which the BSL approved.
On August 12, 2012, St. Joseph Carmona Prayer Group was
inaugurated to become the 16th prayer group of HJMPC.
Like any religious groups, SJCPG also underwent a
painful struggle, specially in securing a regular venue for its weekly
prayer meetings. With the
increasing number of members, the chapel was no longer adequate,
compelling the Core Group to look for a bigger venue.
Since SJCPG had members residing in Carmona Estate, the
newly-established Nuestra Señora Del Santisimo Rosario Parish Church in
the subdivision was considered a convenient choice.
Taking things one step at a time, the group initially requested
Parish Priest Fr. Ronel Ilano to celebrate Holy Mass for the group every
month. The other activities
were still held at the Milagrosa Chapel.
After a few months, a new parish priest, Rev. Fr. Orlie Jimenez
was assigned to Santisimo Rosario Parish.
During the get-to-know meeting with each organization with Fr.
Orlie, SJCPG requested him to allow the group to hold its weekly prayer
meetings in the Church. With
the guidance of the Lord and Fr. Orlie’s approval, SJC found a new home,
where St. Joseph was reunited with his spouse, Nuestra Señora del
Santisimo Rosario. In
return, SJCPG has, to date, been actively participating in various
Parish activities; i.e., Music Service, Lectors, Commentator and Lay
Ministers during Holy Mass.
The group also held social action projects, such as feeding program and
Balik Eskwela Project.
At present, the group has more than 50 active couple members and continues to increase in membership.
