history of Our Lady of Rosary (OLR)
The history of the Our Lady of the
Rosary (OLR) Prayer Group is deeply founded in faith, hope,
commitment, camaraderie, friendship, and charity.
The Early Years
It
all started when current Hearts of Jesus and Mary Prayer
Community (HJMPC) Head Servant Tito Warren/Tita Beth
Inocencio sponsored for several years prior to 2008, a
series of Marriage Encounter Weekend Seminar Outreaches for
the parents of their students at Inocencio School Montessori
Playschool (ISMP) located at Rosario, Pasig City.
Their deep faith and commitment to serve the Lord and
their resolve to provide the parents as well as their
faculty and school staff continuous spiritual nourishment,
led them to decide to conduct weekly prayer meetings.
The
first prayer meeting was held at the Old Building of the
ISMP on April 17, 2008. The Praise and Worship activity was
led by Tito Joey/Tita Mitos Doydora, together with the
Special Charisms Ministry Music Group.
Immediately thereafter,
a group composed of Tito Warren/Tita Beth Inocencio,
Tito Jun/Tita Irene Guevarra, Tito Noel/Tita Ritz Dueñas and
Tito Joey/Tita Mitos Doydora met to discuss plans on the
formation of a prayer group.
Pursuing the plan, Tito Warren and Tita Beth
Inocencio talked with the parish priest of Our Lady of the
Holy Rosary Parish, who readily consented to the formation
of a prayer group within the Parish.
However, things did not go as smoothly
as expected, because there was no available slot in the
Church itself for the holding of weekly prayer meetings.
Fortunately, God’s grace and guidance led to the
discovery of a small chapel in the nearby Doña Juana
Subdivision located along C. Raymundo Street.
Upon proper representations, the homeowners’
association allowed the group to use the chapel.
The Spirit-filled and lively prayer
meetings and activities held at the Doña Juana Chapel
attracted regular attendance from HJMPC members residing in
Pasig City and nearby municipalities.
As the group started to grow in number, it was
decided to name the prayer group Our Lady of Rosary Prayer
Group and to formally affiliate with HJMPC upon the
application of the following Covenanted Members:

Accreditation by HJMPC
Since
most of the HJMPC members who joined OLRPG were covenanted
members, it did not take long before OLRPG was given a
regular HJMPC prayer group status. On September 3, 2009,
OLRPG held its Inaugural Mass as the 15th regular prayer
group of HJMPC.
The steady growth in membership through
the years resulted in the need for a
bigger venue of the prayer meetings.
With the good heart and assistance of Tito Abet/Tita
Shirley Padilla, OLRPG transferred in April 2012, to a new
venue, the Sta. Lucia Parish Church in Manggahan, Pasig.
OLRPG
Activities
The first ME Class sponsored by OLRPG
was held at the HJMPC Retreat House in Tagaytay City on July
5-6, 2008.
Later, on April 16, 2009, a first Kasalan Bayan was
sponsored at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. In
2017, another Kasalan Bayan was held at Sta. Lucia Church
for six (6) couples, followed by another one in 2019, also
for six (6) couples.
To provide sacred journeys for its
members, especially those in search of meaning, purpose,
values and/or truth, OLRPG has organized several pilgrimages
to different pilgrimage sites:
Regina Rica, Kamay ni Jesus, Shrine of Divine Mercy,
Shrine of Padre Pio and the Monasterio de Tarlac.
These pilgrimages helped the members gain a better
understanding and develop a closer relationship with the
Lord, and undoubtedly strengthened the bonds of love and
friendship among them.
Awards,
Recognitions, and Accomplishments
The
enthusiasm, commitment and active and full participation of
OLRPG members in community-wide activities had translated
into the prayer group or some of its members receiving
various awards from friendly competitions organized by the
HJMPC. They include the following:
• February 2011: OLRPG, Overall
Champion of the SESA Sports Fest
• October 2012: Tito Jim Asuncion, 3rd
place in the Original Contrition Songfest
• February 15, 2015: OLRPG, Champion of
the HJMPC Foundation Day HALABIRA Competition organized by
SESA;
• December 2017: OLRPG, Champion of the
HJMPC Christmas Party “ In a Manger” Competition
• December 2019 : OLRPG, 3rd place in
HJMPC Christmas Party Best Santa Clause Contest
A Tradition of Gift-Giving and Sharing
to Others
Through the years, OLRPG has
established a tradition of gift-giving and sharing of
blessings to others, not only to its members but to
non-members as well.
During its anniversary and Christmas celebrations,
OLRPG has never failed to give some presents to selected
deserving members. These were in the form of gift packs and
food baskets, among others.
OLRPG members have likewise gone out of
their way to help distribute relief goods to victims of the
Taal Volcano eruption during the term of pastoral head Tito
Jojo and Tita Alona Alvarez.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the pastoral team gave
financial support to less fortunate members.
Recently, in celebration of its 12th Anniversary,
OLRPG members and the pastoral team led by Pastoral Head
Tito Rhey and Tita Dheng Medrano and Shepherd Couple Tito
Ron /Tita Tere Guevarra distributed food packs to the less
fortunate residents of Pasig City.
Furthermore, Tito Jim and Tita Vicky Asuncion,
together with their two daughters, Jem and Jammy, gave to
each of the HJMPC prayer groups a cash gift of P12,000.00.
Although unable to hold face-to-face
prayer meetings at Sta. Lucia Church during this time of
pandemic, OLRPG continues to give its monthly love offerings
to the Church for its support and upkeep.
Growth
of Membership and its Members
Since
its affiliation, OLRPG has in its roster a total of 46
covenanted members.
The
growth and strength of OLRPG is aptly attributed to the
loving and nurturing leadership of its Pastoral Teams headed
by the following Pastoral Heads, under the guidance of their
Shepherd Couples:
